Executive Director’s Letter

Dear Friend,

The National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) was established to address the need for strong industry partnerships with educational institutions in order to develop, implement and sustain industry-driven and industry-recognized, portable certifications that have strong validation and assessment standards in the transportation, energy, and aviation sectors.

NC3 members have an opportunity to take a national and international role in shaping industry-driven training policies for today and the future. The relation between industry and education allows “real-time” expertise on careers defined by industry. Within these partnerships there is immediate access to industry research, development and innovation along with the flexibility to create certifications that meet current and future labor demands.

Collaboratively industry leaders and progressive educators will determine a response to the current economy with a new direction for training, assessment and certification. As the United States and world economies recover, workforce supply and quality will become the competitive benchmark.  The White House administration has highlighted this benchmark as a national priority. It provides a strategic vision and framework for our national community and technical college network for training the current workforce and providing leadership for retraining the emerging and transitioning workforce.  These efforts will be critical as the economy recovers.  The vision of the NC3 coalition is to be better as a whole than by ourselves. The answer is a through a synergistic sustainable partnership between industry and education.

If we are to meet the unprecedented need for industry driven certifications and provide our labor market, our student’s, our regions, and our nation’s sustainability in this volatile economy we must act now. We must show commitment from industry and educators while asking for support from the current administration.
