November 25, 2022

NC3 has some impressive team members in our ranks and this Staff Spotlight series aims to highlight the incredibly talented individuals who work with us. We’ll be featuring a new interview in our monthly newsletters, here on our website, and on our social media pages each month.

Madelyn Johnson

This month’s Staff Spotlight features Maddie Johnson, NC3’s Customer Success and Engagement Coordinator During this month’s staff spotlight interview, Maddie was excited to share that NC3 has over 1,300 Certification Centers, including 240+ NC3 Leadership Schools, in our network and 17 world-class industry partners! She feels inspired by the work she’s able to do to support NC3’s Program Managers and each certification their industry partners offer.

Check out our Q&A session below to learn more about Maddie, what motivates her to wake up and go to work, something she learned the hard way, and more!

What motivates you to wake up and go to work?

Helping others learn new skills is my life’s calling. With NC3, I can do that through communicating with educators, assisting with curriculum development, and more. Knowing students are achieving their goals partly due to our support provides me with all the motivation I need.

What do you like most about your job?

Since completing my undergraduate degree, my overall goal has been to help others learn the skills necessary to be successful on their own terms. Within the NC3 Network, we collaborate to solve problems within CTE and create opportunities for students to achieve their goals. Having a community that is as excited about education as I have been is encouraging as I begin my career.

What do you enjoy about working with NC3?

I enjoy working with NC3’s Program Managers and learning more about each certification their industry partners offer. One of my goals is to understand each program’s educational standards and figure out what I can do to support them. Each NC3 Program Manager is making a difference in the lives of educators and students, and I’m happy to be a part of that in any capacity.

What was the largest obstacle you faced during your NC3 onboarding? How did you overcome this challenge?

Learning about each program was overwhelming. I knew very little about CTE. Thankfully, Erika Staackman and each NC3 Program Manager were incredibly supportive as I learned about each individual certification.

What is something you learned the hard way?

I’ve learned how to establish boundaries. I’ve had experiences that have led me to understand that being intentional about how you spend your energy is important. Learning how to say no, or not right now, has been one of the best ways to reduce burnout for me.

What would you tell someone in high school about the years to come?

Be open to changing your mind about what you’re going to be in life. Work hard, but remember to stay present and enjoy the time you have. Everything will fall into place.
