Earlier this month, NC3 hosted its first Instructor Professional Development Train-the-Trainer event in partnership with Thermo King. Nine (9) instructors were in attendance from seven (7) different schools across the nation: Gateway Technical College, Johnston Community College, Lewis-Clark State College, North Dakota State College of Science, San Juan College, Thermo King DesMoines/SANCO and Wytheville Community College. During this training, instructors learned Transport Refrigeration Fundamentals & Procedures and Transport Refrigeration Unit Navigation & Preventative Maintenance, which are part of NC3’s Thermo King Level 1 Certifications. 

Chris Walmsley, Technical Training and Publications Manager with Thermo King, was onsite to support and was very pleased with how well this first Train-the-Trainer event went. 

“As a new NC3 Industry Partner, I was extremely impressed with how our first-ever Thermo King Train-the-Trainer event was conducted. From the collaborative nature of curriculum reviews to the delivery of the training. The attending technical instructors were engaged and provided great feedback as each session was being delivered. With the Transport Refrigeration industry being an essential element of the cold chain, ensuring critical perishable items such as food and pharmaceuticals are able to be delivered safely to consumers and end users, programs like these NC3 Thermo King Transport Refrigeration certifications are vital and will help create new technicians to support this growing essential industry for the future,” said Walsmley. 

With this Train-the-Trainer event being so successful, NC3 and Thermo King are already planning the next Train-the-Trainer event, which will likely take place later this year.
