NC3 has some impressive team members in our ranks and this Staff Spotlight series aims to highlight the incredibly talented individuals who work with us. We’ll be featuring a new interview in our monthly newsletters, here on our website, and on our social media pages each month.
This month’s Staff Spotlight features Emilee Sears… NC3’s Customer Service & Engagement Coordinator!
Before joining the NC3 team, Emilee worked in elementary education as an Assistant Director and most recently an Admissions Coordinator. In her role here at NC3, she loves knowing the work she’s doing is helping people on a daily basis! In her first two months working with NC3, she proudly processed 191 new certification requests to NC3 instructors and set up 46 new schools with NC3 access. She loves working for our non-profit, and believes that while NC3 already makes getting certifications easily accessible it will only get better as NC3 continues to grow!
What drew you to NC3 originally?
I truly love that we’re a non-profit organization. Being able to help students at no cost to them is such an amazing thing. NC3 makes getting certifications easily accessible and with our continued growth, it will only continue to get even better!
What was the largest obstacle you faced during your NC3 onboarding? How did you overcome this challenge?
I would have to say learning all of the equipment and certifications. If I’m being honest, I was not familiar with all of the equipment our certifications require, nor our ever-growing list of certifications we have. Learning all certifications and equipment has definitely taken some time, and I’m still continuing to learn as I go. Making lists for each of NC3’s industry partners and the certifications that go with each has helped lots. I also use the spreadsheets that my colleagues already created, which makes my day-to-day job that much easier!
What do you enjoy about working with NC3?
I love that every single one of my coworkers are truly the most genuine and helpful group of people out there! When I was first hired, I immediately felt SO welcomed by each and every one of my colleague’s. Everyone on the team is always so willing to help one another and go the extra mile, so we can all succeed! I genuinely feel lucky to have stumbled upon NC3 and feel blessed to be a part of such a great team!
Where is your hometown?
I’m originally from Sandusky Ohio (home of Cedar Point), and I currently live in South Carolina.
What would you tell someone in high school about the years to come?
Never give up! Even on your hardest days, give your all and always remember the bigger picture. Also, change IS a good thing and 9 times out of 10, we learn and grow from it.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
Knowing I’m going to help both students and instructors on a day to day basis gives me motivation. I love getting to talk to instructors on one end of my job, but also helping issue certifications from behind the scenes on the other half of my job.
What was the best vacation you’ve ever had?
My husband and I went to Jamaica on our Honeymoon, and I have to say it was absolutely incredible! Every single person we met was SO friendly and the food was amazing. It was also the clearest water I’ve ever seen and we had the best view overlooking the ocean from our room.
