NC3 Master Instructor | Kubota Tech | TCAT Elizabethton
David Honeycutt is an NC3 Master Instructor for Kubota Tech, as well as an instructor for Diesel Powered Equipment Technology at TCAT Elizabethton.
Check out our Q&A session below to learn more about David, his background, how he originally got involved with NC3, being an NC3 Master Instructor, and more!
NC3’s Kubota Program Manager, Manny Rodriguez, sat down with David to talk all about his work as an NC3 Master Instructor.
I was in the field for about 18 years. Started out on the automotive side of things and moved to the heavy truck/equipment side of the industry. I was approached one day by a friend who was teaching a smog class at WyoTech and he asked if I was interested in teaching a suspension class at the same school. I went and interviewed and the next thing you know it’s now 14+ years and I am teaching Off-road diesel at TCAT in Elizabethton TN.
Well, the TCAT that I am at is one of the main training schools for NC3 so I thought it would be good for my school and me to get involved and become a Master Trainer for them.
I am very proud of the Kubota Tech program that we offer through the Off-road diesel program. The program has really grown over the past few years, and I do not see it slowing down. We are currently building a brand-new facility just for the Off-road Diesel program and just wait until you see it!
We moved to TN about 3 years ago. When I was living in California, I used to build custom off-road buggies. Now living in Tennessee, the outdoors are so beautiful that I have no time for car building. I am usually pretty active from running in many Spartan races to practicing jiu-jitsu for about 8 years. I spend most of my day with my family. My beautiful wife and daughter are with me in Tennessee, and we love it.
Don’t waste time! Don’t ask yourself “What do I want to do for a living” ask yourself “What do I want my life to look like” and then go make it happen. There is so much out there right now for young men and women, but you have to go get it. Set aside the next few years and put your all into the industry you are interested in, and you can set yourself up for life. My favorite quote goes something like this, “Don’t be nice (be good), don’t settle, don’t become complacent, stand up for what you believe, become a savage, become a monster, and learn to harness it!” Basically, don’t let anything stop you from your dream and what you want in life.
