Sean Kearns | NC3’s Manufacturing Manager

Before joining NC3, Sean worked in training curriculum development as a Project Manager, as well as working in the craft beer industry! At NC3, he’s learning how to weld while working with one of NC3’s Global Industry Partners, Lincoln Electric.

Check out our Q&A session below to learn more about Sean!

  • Determined because if I have my mind set on something, it’s almost impossible to get me to change course.
  • Resilient because I’ve been through many, MANY difficult situations in my life and I’ve always powered through, adapted, and came out better on the other side.
  • Adventurous because, who doesn’t love a good adventure??

Flight and/or teleportation. Having the ability to get where I want instantly, OR, having the ability to take to the sky and experience the freedom of flight.

I can play the drums. I started playing in high school and have played on and off over the years. If I ever buy a house I will definitely purchase another kit and play all the time.

I was originally born in Flemington, NJ, but I moved to Jacksonville Beach, FL at a very young age and grew up there. I also consider Asheville, NC a second hometown.

A dream vacation would be to charter a surf yacht in Indonesia with my girlfriend and surf all of the famous breaks. I would also love to hike the Tour du Mont Blanc from start to finish. Visiting Lake Como in Italy is another dream vacation.

I always face my fears. If there is something that I’m unsure about or gives me pause, I tend to just meet it head on and get it out of the way. You usually find out that what you were afraid of was nothing to be afraid of at all.

“No human being ever, in the end, outran regret.” -Thomas H. Cook. I feel like this quote sums up life perfectly. There’s no outrunning our pasts. You have to accept and live with the decisions you’ve made.

I come from a Training and Development background and worked in training curriculum development as a Project Manager. I’m a lifelong learner myself, so helping others learn is a passion.

I would definitely tell them that skilled trades are a completely viable career option outside of the traditional 4-year degree pathway. You don’t have to go into debt to have a profitable and rewarding career. Ultimately, pursue what you love.

Successfully completing my first TTT! Everything went so well and the students all enjoyed the training, the instructors, and the class itself. I also laid down my first stick weld bead with the other students in the class and it actually came out great!

Success, to me, is doing what you love while being able to live the life you want to live. Being passionate about the work you do, helping others, and having peace of mind.
