Morgan Garvey
Morgan Garvey | NC3’s Program Manager for 3M and Tormach
From the classroom to workforce development leadership, Morgan Garvey brings a passion for real-world learning and student success to everything she does at the National Coalition of Certification Centers. As Program Manager for 3M and Tormach, Morgan works closely with schools, instructors, and industry partners to help strengthen hands-on technical education opportunities across the country.

What job(s) did you do before you started working with NC3?
Before working with NC3, I was a Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructor teaching high school Business & Finance classes as well as Advanced Placement Computer Science. Prior to that I worked at Bank of America as a Relationship Manager helping clients reach their financial goals. In college I worked at Fastenal, a bulk tool distributor, and participated in a couple of internships at IBM and the North Carolina Department of Information Technology.

3M certification issuance doubled for April 2026 as compared to April 2025!
How did you become interested in career and technical education?
I became interested in Career and Technical Education because I was passionate about teaching real world skills that students would apply to their daily lives. When I graduated from high school, I felt like I had learned a lot, but I didn’t feel like much of what I was taught was going to be used throughout my daily life. Career and Technical Education courses extend into life beyond the classroom.
What would you tell someone in high school about the years to come?
So much of your life will not go according to plan. The more willing you are to embrace that instead of fighting against it will allow you to find peace along the way.
What have you gained from working at NC3?
I have gained a sense of freedom, empowerment, and appreciation that I was lacking in my previous role as well as a kind, supportive team of coworkers.
What is your proudest moment at NC3?
My proudest moment at NC3, thus far, was participating in National Signing Day at Pitt Community College.
What do you like most about your job?
The flexibility that comes from working a remote job and my coworkers!
What is something you learned the hard way?
Don’t ever purchase a vehicle from CarMax.
Do you have a favorite quote?

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?
Always treat people with genuine kindness and respect.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I used to wait tables in high school and college.
What are three words to best describe you?
Goofy, genuine, and joyful.
What do you like to do on your days off?
On my days off, I like to spend time with my family, preferably outside with some good food.

How would you describe the NC3 team?
I would describe the NC3 team as smart, focused, fun, and connected. Each individual on our team has a unique set of skills and traits that contribute to NC3’s success. All of my coworkers are so incredibly good at what they do and are willing to step in and help at any given moment. Even though we operate remotely, we communicate so much throughout the day and that connection makes working from home feel like the best of both worlds.
What does true leadership mean to you?
True leadership, to me, means being knowledgeable, accessible, relatable, transparent, and willing. From my personal experience, the greatest leaders are those who have experience doing what they are leading others to do while also being willing to work alongside them to help succeed. Here at NC3 I have had incredible leaders who have worked hard to set me up for success.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
My job, family, and work environment motivate me to wake up and go to work each day. Since joining NC3, I’ve experienced what it’s like not to dread the work week. Loving my job makes it easy to wake up each day and get to work. Also, knowing that my job is what allows me to provide the life that I have with my family is another motivator. Lastly, I love my home office. I’ve found that enjoying the physical space I work in has a huge impact on my productivity.
